ONE ENCHANTED EVENING – AT GLASTONBURY ABBEY ANNOUNCED

⭐ ONE ENCHANTED EVENING – AT GLASTONBURY ABBEY ANNOUNCED ⭐

Somerset’s best professional talent, from the worlds of theatre and music, will join forces for a star-studded evening among the famous ruins of Glastonbury Abbey – One Enchanted Evening.

The event is the brainchild of West End choreographer and director Andrew Wright (who hails from Street). He has been joined by Glastonbury Festival founder and organiser Michael Eavis and worldwide theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh, who described the event as a “spectacular evening to celebrate how much we are missing musical theatre”.

Singers, dancers and performers, most of whom have been unable to work because of the coronavirus crisis will pack the two-hour, West End-style show with tunes and dance numbers from some of the world’s most famous musicals as a thank you to key workers.

Among those performing at One Enchanted Evening are: Evelyn Hoskins (Waitress) from Yeovil; Jess Michelmore (BBC Prom’s West Side Story) from Wells; Weston-super-Mare’s Corrine Priest (Les Misérables) and Jacob Fisher (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat); Tim Bonser (South Pacific and guitarist for Sir Cliff Richard) from Bridgwater; Kody Mortimer (Hairspray) from Yatton; Harry Winchester (Peter Pan) from Bridgwater; Lauren Hampton (Mamma Mia!) from Bristol; Glastonbury’s Joanna Woodward (Pretty Woman) and Royal Ballet dancer Leanne Cope from Bath.

Many local people and organisations are offering their products and services for free so as much money as possible can be raised for good causes, and social distancing rules will be adhered to at the event.

Wright, who received well over 600 messages from performers wanting to be involved, said: “This night isn’t just about the performers, it’s about everybody who has generously offered their time, skills and services to get this show up and running. It’s amazing what we have already achieved within just a few weeks, and we still have a month to go until the big night. This show will truly be a Somerset show, for the people of the county to thank those in Somerset who have worked so hard to keep us safe and well through the months of lockdown, and into the future.”

One Enchanted Evening will be held on Sunday 30th August.

Tickets are limited and will cost £25 each, with all available proceeds being shared between a handful of local causes.
