MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG – BROADWAY REVIVAL PLANS FOR 2022

⭐ MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG – BROADWAY REVIVAL PLANS FOR 2022 ⭐

Plans for a Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along set for 2022, have been revealed.

Actor & director Maria Friedman revealed that she had been working with Sondheim on bringing a revival of the show to Broadway, before his unexpected passing.

Friedman commented: “… Right up until his death, we were collaborating on a production of his show, Merrily We Roll Along, for Broadway in 2022…”

No further comment was made on the current status of those plans.

The musical charts the turbulent relationship between three friends, Franklin, Charley and Mary, over three decades. Starting in 1980 and travelling backwards in time, this powerful and moving story features some of Sondheim’s most beautiful songs including ‘Good Thing Going’, ‘Not a Day Goes By’ and ‘Old Friends’.

Merrily We Roll Along is based on the play by Kaufman and Hart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by George Furth.

I know the Menier Chocolate Factory production is pretty beloved, it would be lovely to see it return.
